Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) Cultivation Using Sawdust and Different Organic Manures
نویسندگان
چکیده
Aims: The aim was to evaluate the performance of cultivating oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) using sawdust and different organic manures.
Study Design: experimental design used complete randomized (CRD) Data obtained subjected Analysis Variance (ANOVA) followed by Turkey’s Least Significant Difference(LSD) test compare treatment means; differences considered significant at 95% (P≤0.05) (SPSS Version 21 software).
Place Duration Study: National Biotechnology Development Agency, South East Center, University Nigeria, Nsukka between September 2019 November 2019.
Methodology: Saw dust prepared as substrate with manures coded SD, dust; SDP, Sawdust+ Poultry; SDC, + cow dung; SDD, dust+ pig dung) in ratio 100:0 50:50 respectively cultivate ostreatus). Subsequently, rate growth, time harvest, yield average weight were recorded proximate composition determined standard methods.
Results: Oyster harvested showed Moisture content ranged (4.63-7.14%), ash (4.84-6.77%), crude fat (0.98-3.28%), fiber (16.02-18.23%), protein (19.27-33.41%) carbohydrate (38.18%-48.89%). Average highest saw (10.2g) total (980g) least (7.5g) (105g) poultry litters substrate. from all differed significantly (p<0.05).
Conclusion: Sawdust most suitable for cultivation though dung combination can be a good alternative.

Effects of Pure and Mixed substrates on nutritional composition, minerals and growth of Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) were studied in present study. Results of the study revealed that the total protein content, ash, crude fiber and crude fat were higher in the mushroom harvested from mixed substrate (23.64, 8.17, 0.90 and 2.93%nrespectively) than that of the pure substrates (21.02, 3.40...
متن کاملBioprospecting of powdered pineapple rind as an organic supplement of composted sawdust for Pleurotus ostreatus mushroom cultivation
Pineapple rind is a by-product of the pineapple processing industry and contains nutrients and other compounds which must be utilized as a bioresource for socio-economic benefits while preventing the potential problems of improper agroindustrial biomass disposal methods. Pleurotus ostreatus is an edible oyster mushroom with medicinal properties and can be cultivated on various agroindustrial bi...
متن کاملDEVELOPMENT OF A NEW COTTON WASTE COMPOSTING TECHNOLOGY FOR CULTIVATION OF OYSTER MUSHROOM (Pleurotus ostreatus)
This applicable research has successful selected enzyme Ctec2 from Novozyme (Denmark) which gave the best cellulose degradation activity compared to the other enzymes. At optimum conditions of 50 o C, pH=5 and ratio between enzyme and substrate (E/S) being 0.40%, 0.45%, 0.50%, the time needed to substrate degrade was 60 hours. Based on this finding, a new cotton waste composting technology for ...
متن کاملOstreolysin enhances fruiting initiation in the oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus).
Fruiting initiation in mushrooms can be triggered by a variety of environmental and biochemical stimuli, including substances of natural or synthetic origin. In this work ostreolysin, a cytolytic protein specifically expressed during the formation of primordia and fruit bodies of Pleurotus ostreatus, was applied to nutrient media inoculated with mycelium of P. ostreatus, and its effects on myce...

Cultivation of Pleurotus ostreatus on different substrates such as rice straw, rice straw + wheat straw, rice straw+ paper, sugarcane bagasse and sawdust of alder was investigated. All the substrates except rice straw were supplemented with 10% rice bran. The substrate without supplement was considered as control. The effects of various substrates on mycelial growth, colonization time, primordi...
